Engineering Competition Winner - Chantal Cordey, Sydney

The Carpentaria Ghost Nets Programme hosted the Design for a Sea Change Competition. Participants were requested to design a product reusing ghost nets that Indigenous Communities around the Gulf of Carpentaria can manufacture and sell through Indigenous enterprise.
The competition was judged and announced at the Garma Festival in NE Arnhem Land on the 6 August 2006.
Pictured left is the winning entry by Chantal Cordey, a guitar strap. the judges favoured this entry above all the other excellent ideas because ti was creative, innovative and simple to make with the limited resources of community living.
