Numbulwar Homelands Resource Centre (Numbulwar)
There has been a continual build up of ghost nets and other rubbish along the coastline of Numbulwar for many years. The polluting of the shoreline and the damage to marine life that the nets and rubbish cause, is of great concern to the people of Numbulwar
As there has been no previous clean up work or recording of nets and rubbish along the coast, there is no data available on when this occurs. Nets and rubbish litter the entire coastal region around Numbulwar, but a particular ‘ hot spot’ area has been identified north of Numbulwar between Milwal and Dharri (approx 20km)
The tidal range around Numbulwar is approximately 1.5 – 2 metres and the type of coast is predominantly sand dunes, with extensive areas of mangroves and some rocks
